About the department

The Department of Basic Sciences is one of the central academic pillars of Raya Higher Institute for Management and Foreign Trade, playing a key role in preparing graduates able to understand and analyze scientific phenomena in the light of local, regional and global change. In line with the Egyptian state’s vision of promoting sustainable development, the department offers up-to-date educational programs based on academic quality standards that integrate theory and practice, preparing graduates able to compete and innovate.

Vision and mission

Vision

Excellence and the ability to work in the business environment in all its activities, locally and internationally. Leadership in the basic sciences is the foundation of excellence across the whole educational process, of advancing research and of serving the community.

Mission

Preparing students for all the specializations and academic programs of the institute with up-to-date courses in the basic sciences, and working with the institute’s other departments in research and community service to help solve the community’s problems.

Goals

  1. Prepare qualified graduates able to work effectively across business fields and economic sectors
  2. Prepare students for postgraduate study and strengthen their academic and research abilities
  3. Develop lifelong learning skills and a sense of social responsibility in students
  4. Develop research in all fields, focusing on applied research that helps address social problems and supports comprehensive development plans
  5. Serve the community at local, regional and international level by activating cooperation and partnership with all stakeholders

Academic standards

As part of Raya Higher Institute for Management and Foreign Trade’s commitment to raising the quality of teaching and learning and keeping pace with the latest developments in higher education, the institute applies the national academic reference standards issued by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, strengthening the quality of its educational outcomes and ensuring that they match the needs of the local and regional job market.

The institute adopts the national academic reference standards for the faculties of commerce sector, issued in January 2009, as the governing reference framework for its study programs, so that its graduates have specialized knowledge and professional and intellectual skills in accounting, finance and management, in line with the latest academic trends and approved standards.

The aim is to graduate people able to compete and keep pace with the fast-changing business environment, with a commitment to the highest levels of quality and academic excellence.

Adopting the national academic reference standards strengthens the academic program by building an integrated educational system grounded in competence and professionalism, through:

  • Developing students’ analytical and quantitative abilities using the latest scientific methods, to support efficient and effective decision-making
  • Mastering scientific standards and systems and their practical applications, so that graduates deal professionally with changing business environments and current challenges
  • Developing students’ scientific and critical thinking in understanding and analyzing basic phenomena in mathematics, statistics, computing and the supporting sciences, so that they can solve applied problems in the institute’s various specializations
  • Integrating knowledge by linking the basic sciences with the other disciplines, such as accounting, business administration, economics and law, building a solid scientific base that lets students master their specialized courses with a broad scientific awareness

This reflects the vision of the Department of Basic Sciences as one of the institute’s most central departments: the scientific foundation on which all the other departments rest, preparing students with analytical skills and scientific method, able to keep pace with scientific and technological progress, academically and professionally ready for the job market, and contributing actively to sustainable development plans and to serving the community locally and regionally.
